Prof. Declan Kennedy www.declan.de,
will be giving a talk and PowerPoint presentation on Creating Community
Currency. Applications, practices and implementation issues will be
discussed. Learn how to benefit from techniques successfully
implemented in Europe and in more than 2700 communities around the
world and the USA. He will touch on European Eco-Village design
applications and will discuss the future of economies that are based on
abundance vs... the formal economics of scarcity.
This informative presentation will be followed by a
game simulating the use of local money as a permaculture tool to create
community, jobs and fight inflation. He will use our Silver lake
neighborhood as a model.
Prof. Kennedy is an Irish architect, urban planner,
permaculture designer and ecologist, co-founder of the Permaculture
Institute of Europe and of the Global Village Network (GEN). He has
been teaching and practicing ecological urban design since 1972 and
permaculture for the past 20 years and was Professor of Urban Design
and Infrastructure at the Architectural Department of the Technical
University of Berlin. Presently, he is doing the urban design for the
first full-fledged ecological settlement in Ireland. He now teaches
eco-village design from the ecological community Lebensgarten
Steyerberg, Germany where he and his wife Margrit live and which they
co-founded in 1985. In 1995 they co-authored "Interest and Inflation
Free Money" a revolutionary book in which they reveal how flaws in our

Working mainly as a healer and mediator, he also
assisted with the introduction of complementary currencies in different
regions of Germany, Poland and Austria. Co-authored with Margrit the
book "Interest and Inflation Free Money" - Creating an exchange medium
that works for everybody and protects the earth.
